Course Objectives

  • Provide examples of pandemic related languishing (Grant, 2021; a sense of stagnation and emptiness that dulls motivation and makes it hard to stay focused on tasks);
  • Describe the different types of grief associated with living in a pandemic (e.g., collective grief, anticipatory grief);
  • Describe loneliness – in particular how it is a feeling alone against our will ( Pinker, 2015) and how loneliness is related to grief; and
  • Implement pandemic themed grief awareness and healing activities, designed to start the process of naming the losses, acknowledging how grief is felt in the body, and “digesting” the grief through compassion and acceptance.
